Inclusive Summer Camps & Programs

CAMP PEGASUS PRESENTS… …a new 1/2 day summer creative arts social skills intensive called …MINI PEGASUS- ART OF FRIENDSHIP...for neurodiverse 4-8 year olds with autism, ADHD, and learning differences!

We thank the community for the voluminous messages of love and concern since we announced the ending of our special day camp program. Although the forces are still present that made it impossible to continue as a full-service day camp the size and complexity of Camp Pegasus, we decided to reorganize and offer a mini-version of our special program. Parents of children on the autism spectrum are often faced with the worry of finding the perfect summer camp. Concerns frequently include - Will the staff know how to appropriately manage behaviors - will the other campers accept my child - and will my child continue making progress towards their goals in a less structured environment? The Kinney Center has addressed these concerns through Camp Kinney.

Our summer camp program provides an immersive and recreational based traditional summer camp experience specifically designed for individuals with autism, ages 5-21. Our reverse inclusion model has been perfected over the past 9 years, and is accredited by the American Camp Association. Your child will participate in a variety of activities similar to a traditional summer camp, while also receiving naturalistic application of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Every week do wild and wacky science experiments and create works of art, all while working towards a personalized set of goals. Campers will be visited weekly by special guests including martial artists, petting zoos, scientists, sing-alongs and many more.

Stratford Friends School four-week social skills/pragmatics summer program provides a great alternative to traditional summer camps for students who benefit from participating in highly structured and engaging learning environments. Sessions provide learners with the opportunity to maintain learned skills by remaining engaged in the learning process during the summer.

The program is ideal for learners who struggle to make and maintain friendships, have difficulty participating in structured and unstructured play activities, struggle to initiate play with peers, and have trouble participating in reciprocal interactions with peers.

Co-facilitated by two Speech-Language Pathologists and a Licensed Behavior Specialist, the Social Skills/Pragmatics program skillfully blends social skills (behavior) and pragmatics (social language) in a fun and engaging environment.
