We treat a wide range of emotional/behavioral/social challenges of childhood and adolescence, but specialize in the treatment of neurodivergent children with autism, ADHD, and learning differences. The services we provide are:

MIKE FOGEL'S ART OF FRIENDSHIP SOCIAL SKILLS GROUPS
We are neurodiversity specialists who provide Philadelphia's original Art of Friendship social skills program to help children with autism, ADHD, & learning differences decrease struggle & thrive at home, school, & in friendship. Since 2001, our social skills specialists have supported thousands of children in outpatient social skills groups, school-based programs, consultation, & Camp Pegasus. Small groups meet weekly to learn Mike Fogel's memorable social skills curriculum and practice socializing.

INDIVIDUAL ART-PLAY THERAPY WITH PARENT SUPPORT & TRAINING FOR 3-12 YEAR OLDS
We specialize in art and play therapy with parent support to help your child overcome challenges & succeed at home, school, & friendships. Parents participate in the first 15-20 minutes of each session, learning child-friendly CBT coping skills language with your child so you can reinforce successful coping at home! After caregivers step out to the waiting area, the therapist follows your child's lead to their favorite play or art therapy materials, making treatment fun & comfortable. Feeling super safe and relaxed, children tend to open up and communicate stuck or sensitive feelings and concerns indirectly through art and play communication. Without realizing they are "doing therapy", they rework complex feelings, traumas, self-image and self-esteem, and gain confidence!

INDIVIDUAL ART & VERBAL THERAPY FOR 13-19 YEAR OLDS
We offer adolescent art therapy services with parent support & training to help teenagers & their parents overcome emotional/behavioral challenges so they can succeed at home, school, & in relationships. Teens usually prefer that caregivers don't participate in the therapy room, but we never forget that the adolescent is still living in your home, their formative environment. We collaborate with parents in your teenager's care, translate teen behavior for you and collaborate on supportive strategies for home and school. The key to our teen counseling services? We accept them for who they are follow their lead to art, play, or verbal therapy. Our mission: to help your child find their own voice, communicate their needs effectively, and develop healthy coping skills and relationships in and out of the home.

INDIVIDUAL ART & VERBAL THERAPY FOR COLLEGE & TRANSITION-AGE INDIVIDUALS
We specialize in helping college students & transition-age individuals overcome emotional
challenges & succeed in school & relationships. We love helping young people navigate their path to adulthood! Our college & transition age counseling services embrace diversity & LGBTQIA+ issues, & specialize in the treatment of neurodiverse clients. Discovering who you are - both in- and independent of the family - is critical. We use art therapy or verbal therapy techniques to help our transition-age clients clarify points of confusion, overwhelm, and stress to discover how to stand on their own two feet, and cope with life's demands authentically and successfully.

**We also offer a reduced rate individual therapy program, called the BetterWorld Accessible Therapy Program in which we slide fees as low as $15 for families facing financial insecurity.**

Our practice is founded on the notion that Love will create a BetterWorld: Love of the individual, love of children and childhood, and transforming Love from an invisible feeling to palpable acts of caring. Our acts of caring begin with acceptance of each person for who they are, finding out precisely what they need to cope and succeed...and working with parents and children to give them exactly what they need to overcome and thrive. Let's create a BetterWorld together!

Testimonials

"Our 4 year old son was diagnosed high functioning autistic & Mike Fogel was single-handedly the best resource we found. We highly recommend him. We are doing a weekly social skills class with him & 3 other kids w/various conditions, as well as one-on-one sessions w/him, along with floor-time therapy. Our son didn’t respond as well to ABA therapy so having another option to help him w/his social, communication, anxiety, and behavioral issues has been a godsend. If you have a neurodivergent child I would put Mike Fogel at the top of your list of therapies. His book is also very helpful. When we met him we were so impressed with his knowledge about neurodivergence & his passion to teach & help these special/unique, and often misunderstood kids. We also loved how he would actually get on the floor & meet our son “where he was at” to really connect with him, understand him, and what he needs. Our son loves him & he has extreme social anxiety, so that says everything you need to know about Mike Fogel!!!!!"

"We have known Mike Fogel and have been a part of the Child & Family Art Therapy Center (CFATC) family since 2017 when our son Andrew joined Camp Pegasus at age six. We were immediately impressed by the well trained and empathetic camp counselors and the positive methods of teaching social and coping skills and supporting behavioral and emotional challenges in a fun and engaging manner. Andrew is a neurodiverse child with high functioning autism, ADHD and giftedness. The camp team met the children on their level and provided parent workshops to assist in translating these skills to the home environment. We have continued our relationship with Mike and CFATC since Andrew's first experience at Camp Pegasus in 2017 and have utilized the Center for Camps Pegasus, individual and family therapy, and social skills groups over the years. Mike Fogel is a well educated and creative professional with a true gift for working with neurodiverse children. Mike has been and continues to be a trusted and collaborative advisor for our family when seeking advice and making decisions regarding school, extracurricular activities and additional therapies and professionals that would benefit Andrew. He is very collaborative in working with teachers and school administrators; BCBAs; OTs; psychologists and psychiatrists to ensure a holistic approach to care. Over the years we have observed how Mike can create and transform lessons for age and social appropriateness to teach and reinforce meaningful social and behavioral/emotional challenges coping skills in a fun and memorable way."
